Welcome to the Climate Camp 2019!
This year the Klimacamp in the Rhineland will celebrate its 10th
anniversary! It is unbelievable to see how the climate justice movement
has grown in recent years and we take this anniversary as an opportunity
to look back on many successes as a movement. But it also makes us sad
to see that even after more than 10 years of organized resistance, the
coal diggers in the Rhineland are still doing their mischief and missing
our climate targets by miles! This is precisely why we are meeting the
Rhenish territory on our birthday with a colourful bouquet of actions,
to which everyone is cordially invited to show resistance in a variety
of ways. This year, the Climate Camp has three thematic priorities, namely:
Topic 1: SELF STORGANISATION
Topic 2: RAISING AWARENESS FOR DIFFERENT FORMS OF DISCRIMINATION
Topic 3: ACTIONS & EXCHANGE ON LOCAL & GLOBAL ENERGY STRUGGLES
As every year, the climate camp is supported by four pillars:
1) Education: The Climate Camp is intended to provide space for any
form of education in which hierarchical and stress-free learning can
take place. (see Open Space Concept!)
2) Networking: The camp is a space of encounter and networking. The
climate justice movement wants to grow, join forces and exchange ideas!
There will be room for new groups and synergies!
3) Actions: What would the climate justice movement be without
actions? Be creative, plan your own actions or join existing ones.
4) Living utopias: On different levels we want to show how we can
live together. Participation, grassroots democracy and freedom from
hierarchy are the cornerstones of the camp. We want to question the
existing power relations, which we see as the cause of the climate crisis.
We are looking forward to setting up a great camp together again
this year and are eager to see how the free space offered by the camp
will be filled. You are all invited to fill this space and get involved
in the camp structures!
